In our opinion, one of the best things about Western North Carolina, is the unparalled scenery and all the fun ways to enjoy it. We especially love to hike the waterfalls. Here we are on a summer day visiting Dupont State Forest and hiking Triple Falls, High Falls, and Hooker Falls. For an easy hike, try Catawba Falls right off I-40 at exit 73. There are a lot of other hikes we like and can give you suggestions when you come.
Blue Ridge Parkway
Hands down, one of our favorite ways to spend leisure time is to explore The Blue Ridge Parkway. Check out their website for lots of tips on hiking trails, places to stop for a mountain top picnic, wildlife information, and more. The Red Rocker Inn is conveniently located for easy access to this famous National Park. The closest entrance to the Parkway being just about 8 miles west of The Red Rocker Inn on highway 70. You’re just a few minutes away from a completely different world of nature and breathtaking scenery. If you are already on the Parkway look for mile marker 382.6 and exit toward Black Mountain.
