In Black Mountain, the favorite event of the summer is the Annual Sourwood Festival which fills the downtown with wholesome entertainment for both adults and children in August each year. 2013 dates are August 9, 10, and 11.
Over 30,000 people from all over the country flock to our little town to take in the festivities each summer. Music, dancing, arts & crafts, food, kid's rides and games, Saturday night fireworks, and more in an alcohol-free environment make it the perfect event for everyone.
Browse among the 200 vendors and discover lots of local and unique arts and crafts as well as the delicious food! Sample the BBQ, funnel cakes, home made ice cream, local jelly, corn on the cob, sausages, and of course, the HONEY.
Yes, all this festivity is to celebrate the local Sourwood honey and the bees who make it. Come join the fun! But don't fight the crowd for a parking spot. If you stay at The Red Rocker Inn, leave your car; you'll be just three blocks from the festival!
