The North Carolina Arboretum in Asheville is a 434-acre
public garden owned by the University of North Carolina.
Filled with over 65 acres of special, cultivated gardens
and more than 10 miles of forested walking trails, the
North Carolina Arboretum is a special place for all to
visit. The park features several different types of
gardens including the Blue Ridge Quilt Garden, the
National Native Azalea Repository, and a unique Stream
Garden. Children are entertained through a rotating
science program that provides educational, fun
activities for children. This Asheville NC Attraction is
a very popular spot, and a must stop for those that love

The historic Biltmore Estate in Asheville is probably
Asheville’s best known attraction. It is difficult to
see all of the wonders and beauty at the Biltmore Estate
in Asheville when just visiting for the day. This
sprawling estate has been hailed as America’s only
castle, fascinating tourists and visitors for many
years. When visiting Biltmore Estate, you can view
several rooms of the house which have been superbly
preserved, tour the award winning winery, grand Olmstead
designed gardens, and the expansive equestrian stables.
The Biltmore House is especially gorgeous during the
holiday season as it is exquisitely decorated to
celebrate holiday events. |

All aboard! Asheville’s historic white trolley takes
tourists on an 80 minute ride that covers the city of
Asheville and all of its major areas. Visitors enjoy
touring Asheville’s Montford Historic District, where
you’ll see all of the gorgeous old Queen Ann style
homes, the luxurious Grove Park Inn, Thomas Wolfe’s home
and museum, the Groce Arcade and quaint Biltmore
Village. Tour guides are friendly and are very creative
in relaying humorous and historical notes during the

WNC Nature Center

The WNC Nature Center is settled on 40-acres of beautiful
mountain land. Filled with indoor and outdoor
educational exhibits, the WNC Nature Center is a place
where children and adults can explore and learn more
about the native animals in the area. Spend time getting
to know the otters, Oscar and Ollie, and learn fun
wildlife facts and information from Professor Hoot, a
native hoot owl that lives at the nature center. WNC
Nature Center also participates in the Red Wolf
re-introduction program, offering visitors a rare
glimpse at these endangered wolves. |

Thomas Wolfe’s charming childhood home has been
preserved and set aside as a museum to pay tribute to
his substantial contributions to American Literature.
Wolfe wrote extensively of his family and childhood life
growing up in Asheville and, as such, his beautiful
historic home has become one of Asheville’s most notable
landmarks. |
Smith-McDowell House

Smith-McDowell Home. Renowned for being Asheville’s
oldest house (circa 1840), the Smith-McDowell House in
Asheville was built in the Victorian tradition and its
grounds were designed by the now famous horticulturists,
the Olmstead Brothers. |
